Purpose
Let us use blogs to share useful info (or "knowledge"), and forums for discussions. That will be closer to the conventional usage.
Our purpose could be simpler than "knowledge creation". For example, discussion on specific problem or issue, or a commentary on some article. Knowledge creation is just a side-effect.

I agree with you that we should use platform of blog and forum for discussion on specific issues. Here specific issue is “How to use blog and forum for knowledge creation”
At time of creation this forum topic, I was aware with different type of uses of blog and forum (gossip, marketing etc). I wanted to create a forum topic where we can discuss how blog and forum can be used for expansion and validation of knowledge (why I used creation?) in place of gossip or marketing platform.
Creation of forum topic for particular use (expansion and validation of knowledge) of forum is recursive sentence and create complexity. There are two different things- purpose of this forum topic and views used in this forum topic. Purpose of this forum topic is not knowledge creation (may be created as side effect as you said in your comment) but it invites views on topic how blog and forum can be used for purpose of knowledge creation in place of gossip and marketing. A lot of work on educational blog and forum is going on around the word (some are mentioned in my blog Role of blogs...). There are articles which suggest us how web seminar can be used. What are challenges in these area. Through platform of this forum topic, I hope share of views on such ideas.
Through this forum topic, we can discuss how to use platform of blog and forum (which is generally used as gossip, marketing, showing modernity) for knowledge creation. As example (which will help in understanding nature and purpose of this forum topic) I invite views on following areas.

How blog writing generate different skill in students than exam oriented writing?
No point discussing. Make an hypothesis, design an experiment, collect data,...., test the hypothesis.What are the needs of future? I can't guess. Teachers will aumatically get interested if they find your blogs make their immediate tasks and life easy. A general discussion on such topics will not be of any interested to a teacher who needs to handle a class of (say) 60 student. A set of ready-made quizzes or a question bank or lecture notes will, however, definitely interest her/him.
